Fiji

 Fiji is a nation in the South Pacific. It is famous for two key things. 1.water. Fiji has some of earth's purest water. 2. Cannibalism. Fiji is famous for cannibalism. Cannibalism is word for the consumption of your species. In Fiji, It was humans eating, well, other humans. Fiji also has very high accounts of tourism.

The nation of Fiji is also very cool. In Nadi, they have a Hindu temple. It is the largest Hindu temple in the southern hemisphere.



Fun Fact!!!!

When a man gets engaged to a woman, unlike how we present a ring to our soon-to-be fiance ( if they accept), People in Fiji present a Tabua, or in English, a whale's tooth, to their soon-to-be fiance ( if they accept)

The movie Cast away was also filmed on the island of Monuriki in the Mamanuca archipelago in Fiji.

Knights ferry cub scout hike-lunch

 Earlier this morning, my Cub Scout troop and I went for a pack hike in Knights Ferry. We went up to the top of the trail, took some photos, and went back down. After we went back down,we ate lunch and went over the covered bridge. We were at the park for about 2 hours!

I had a very fun time at the park, and it was nice to get  some fresh air. We stopped at the top of the trail at an elevation of 320 feet. I really enjoyed the scenery and it was cooler at the top of the trail. I LOVED IT!!!!!!! 

At Knights ferry I saw a lot of condors, Lupines, Poppies, and tons and tons and tons and tons of other things that were beautiful and awesome.

Passover

Today, I am going to tell you about Passover. It is a Jewish holiday that Jews observe as the holiday in which the Jews escaped from slavery. Part of the seder is what we call" the four questions". I will recite the questions: 

Ma nishtana halaila hazeh mikol haleilot?

Why is this night different than all other night's?

Shehechol haleliot, anu ochlim chamets umatzah,

Halila hazeh, Halilah hazeh, mekol haleliot.

On all other nights we can eat chametz, bread that rises when it bakes.

Why tonight do we only eat the flat bread, matzah.

Shebechol haleliot anu ochlim she'ar yerakot.

Halilah hazeh, maror

On all other nights we eat any kind of vegetables.

Why on this night do we eat bitter vegetables, or Maror?

Shebechol halelot, ein anu matbillen afilu pa'am echat.

Halilah hazeh, shtei fe'amim.

On all other nights we don't need to dip our food into a sauce even one time.

Why tonight do we dip foods twice.

Shebechol haleliot, ein anu ochlim bein yoshvein uvein mesubim.

On all other nights we eat sitting up straight or leaning.

Why tonight do we make sure to eat while leaning?

Wow... I DID IT!!!!!! Good job to me! It is my job to ask the four questions because I am the youngest in my family. We also have family coming for Passover this year! My dad, his brothers,  and his mom are coming!

landscape review: Fresco

 Today is another landscape review. This one is for fresco. Fresco is supposed to look like Italy but in Lego. It is a very fun area. For example, you can climb the tower and then jump off to be awesome.

Fresco also has about one of each super token. It is a very, very, fun area. People who have been to Italy will probably understand the area as well as me. If you play the game, you will love it.

Camp Ramah Galim

 Today I am going to tell you about summer camp. I go to a summer camp called Camp Ramah Galim.

It is located on the coast of Monterey Bay, Directly in the heart of  coastal California. I am going back for my second time on  Monday, June 20, 2022. 

I am very excited to go back. Last summer, I made lots and lots of pals. I was a very good runner, and was a role model for others for whom it was their first time at the camp as well. I showed them that no matter who you are, you will always fit in. I was also friends with the lifeguards. I was so friendly, I was even sometimes let into the pool early!

Scout oath memorization

 Today I am going to type the Scout Oath. I am a Bear level Scout who needs to remember it so I can be a good Bear Scout. Alright, here I go:

On my honor, I will do my best 

to do my duty  to God and my Country and to obey the Scout Law;

To help other people at all times; 

to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

Now I will do the Scout Law:

A Scout is: Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

PODCAST ALERT!!! GREEKING OUT FROM NAT GEO KIDS

 Today I will tell you about a great podcast for kids. It  is titled Greeking Out. It  is hosted by Kenny Curtis, an award winning podcaster. The podcast is inspired by a book series about Greek mythology called "Zeus the Mighty." It is very funny. Book one, "Zeus The Mighty; The Quest For The Golden Fleas" is available wherever books are sold.

The podcast covers various myths including Echo and Narcissus, Arachne and Athena. It also explains Jason and the Argonauts. It also tells about the Greeks spin on how things came to be. An example is Arachne. the host explained that when Arachne weaved rude and inappropriate depictions of gods. These depictions included a weaving of the gods killing innocent civilians. another was Zeus as a duck throwing thunder bolts out of the sky. Arachne was punished . Her punishment was that she would never touch a weaving wheel again until she was dead. But, the god Athena made a deal with her. She could weave but in a different way. She wouldn't be herself anymore. Today, Arachne is known as the Arachnid, or for kids, the Spider.

LEGO CITY LANDSCAPE REVIEW: FORT MEADOWS

Today is another landscape review. But first we need to go over something. Get in a car and go to the diner in Fort Meadows. Across the street, you will see a multi-color thing. That is called a super build. Build it and you get a creation. That super build is the Fort Meadows Train Station.

The Fort Meadows area is very, very fun. Things in this area include: a vehicle call-in point, a train station with a train Chase can drive, and a diner that you can use the Super Chicken Glide (an ability you get later in the game) to get to the roof of the diner. 

It is a difficult challenge to get to another super build, an emergency crash mat for helicopters, a hill with some lumberjack cabins that you can use the crowbar (another ability later on) to break in and get coins and playable character disguises. It is a very fun world. 

GGPa

 Today, I sent hamentaschen to my GGpa. He lives in Chicago. He is really kind and affectionate. He loved the Hamentaschen. We talked about school. He told me he was in Scouts when he was a kid, too. I love him a lot. It is very hard for him right now, since he lost his wife in 2020, and then he had to move to a retirement home. He is very sad he had to move from Florida. 

Today, also I went to Cub Scouts. My dad talked to my pack, the Bears, about his robot. It's name is Andi. I  felt happy my dad could talk to them.

Interview with Matthew

 Today is an interview with Matthew. 

Number one: What Is your favorite video game?

That's a good question. Probably Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. I once played it so much that I broke my mother's computer!!

Number two: What is your opinion on post # 7, The Argument On Star Wars, yes, or No??

I would say that you are old enough to watch Star Wars now, I was about your age when I watched them and read the books. I also played Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight. So I think yes, you should. 

Number three: What is your favorite type of pizza?

Cheese pizza from Lou Malnati's. 

Number four: what is your favorite Star Wars movie?

The Empire Strikes Back, or Rogue One, because The Empire Strikes Back is one of the best movies of all time. And Rogue One has the best space battle in the series.

Number five: Do you have kids? And if you do, tell us about them.

I have a kid. His name is Noah. He lives in California with his mom

Holi celebration

Today was Holi. Holi is the Indian festival of color. The origin of Holi is believed to be set before the birth of Christ. Legend goes that the god Vishnu assassinated  the younger brother of the demon god, Hiranykasshipu [hi-ran-ee-cap-ish-oo].

I think that Holi is an amazing holiday. It's history is partly what makes it unique, but another amazing and exciting part of Holi's vast traditions is that every single Indian person can celebrate it differently, but it is still the same holiday, and nobody's way of celebrating is better than the others.

Batman

 Today is about Batman. 

Batman is a superhero also known as Bruce Wayne. He is from The DC universal group of heroes, and Is affiliated with the Justice League, a group of eight heroes: Super Man, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Martian Man-hunter, The Flash, Aqua Man, Green Arrow, and Hawk Man

Batman's story is one of the most complicated in the DC  universe. His story starts in Gotham City, with 12- year old Bruce Wayne and his parents, George and Martha. His dad wanted Gotham City  to be free of crime. Bruce's little brother was born shortly before his parents died. 

Unfortunately, after going to the movies, George's beliefs took a serious toll on him, his wife, and his two sons, outside of a movie theater, Where a mugger attempts to steal Martha's pearls. When George tries to push the mugger away, the mugger fires a gun, and murders George and Martha Wayne. Just before Martha and George die from bullet wounds, Martha saves Bruce by scaring the mugger away before he shoots Bruce.

Bruce later grows to avenge the deaths of his parents as batman, the Dark Knight, or the Caped Crusader. He has one of the saddest origin stories ever. He is in 2nd place after Superman whose home planet of Krypton blew up

Animal Adaptations

Today's story is about amazing animal adaptations.       

French Guiana termites

French Guiana termites will literally explode to protect their nest. they do this by bushing their abdominal's out of their body until they explode.

Pythons

Pythons are the longest snakes on earth. Their adaptation is that they can kill large animals, such as deer, swallow them whole, and not need to eat for 12 months. 

King Cobra

The king cobra is yet another snake. His amazing adaptation is standing up to prey, literally. It will stand up to six feet tall!!  

Chromebook

 Today's post is on my new Chromebook.               

My Chromebook is a silver , HP Chromebook with sixty-four GB and a fourteen inch led screen. It is very cool. I love it . it is set on parental supervision until I can prove supreme responsibility with a computer. The controls make me feel safe and happy until I can prove I am a good  digital citizen.

 

South Pacific

Welcome back. Today is about the show South Pacific.

South Pacific is a documentary about the south pacific: ocean, the islands, the animals, the people, and the world's history. There is a lot of cool info, like how it says that a certain tribe will scar the men's skin into the form of an alligator.

One episode explains the story of the Essex and the mighty whale, the inspiration for a tale you might've heard called " Moby Dick", while another episode explains the true story of the Rapa  Nui and Easter island. It is really cool.

The argument for Star Wars

Today's story is on whether or not I should watch Star Wars.

YES 1. It's unfair that I am forbidden from watching star wars. I should be allowed to watch it.   

NO 1. Certain movies and shows are dangerously addictive. Especially for younger watchers, Star Wars can give kids who watch it dangerous ideas about violence. Its just not safe for kids.

YES 2. Its a cool show. I have a friend whos a second grader that's watched the series. Its perfectly safe for kids, and people who think that Star Wars is dangerous need to watch it.

NO 2. Some of the characters are scary, and there is some inappropriate content in the movies . Its just gross.

YES 3. Besides for the movies, Star Wars also has awesome video games, toys, and books. Kids are always entertained by Star Wars. It's awesome!

NO 3. Star wars is more for older audiences.

Lego City Undercover landscape review

Today's post is on the Lego City Undercover landscape "THE FOREST POLICE STATION."

The forest police area is a fun area where Chase McCain can kick back and enjoy himself. In the area, various fun and exciting activities, such as finding super bricks, making a super-build helipad, doing time trials, and other fun things. It's very fun.

Haircut

Today's story is about my haircut.

VOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! went the razor. Squirt, squirt, went the gel. I was getting my hair cut. Soon enough, I had a undercut. It was so nice . I loved it. my mom took photos! It was nice.

QUESTION 1.   What is your career?

I am a French teacher in a small university in California.

QUESTION 2. Why did you choose teaching over a different line of work?

When I was in college, I knew that I wanted to study French language, history, and literature, but I did not know how to make a career of it. Then, when I was in grad school, I was teaching as part of my scholarship, and it turned out that I not only loved teaching, but that I was very good at it.

FINAL QUESTION. What is your life like right now?

Right now, my life is very busy. I teach, I have office hours where I do paperwork and grading, and things like that. I am always running errands like getting groceries or going to the post office or doctor appointments. And I am busy with my family also. There is always something to do or somewhere to be! But I am very happy, I love my family, and I love my life.

BONUS QUESTION. TELL US MORE ABOUT THAT KID OF YOURS!!!!!

He's mostly good! His name is Noah, I named him after Noah from the Bible. He was a man who trusted God even when other people were mean or made fun of him. And I think that name is a perfect fit for my boy. I have lots of nicknames for him, too. We have had so, so many special adventures together. We love nature, hiking, camping, and exploring. We love movies, video games, reading together, and especially huggles (which is our special word for hugging and snuggling).

Cub Scouts

GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Cub Scouts were outside playing soccer. Me, Owen, and Nolan versus Finn, Mikey, and Seamus. As I was about to kick the ball to the goal, I kicked backwards and the ball hit me in the face and I dropped to the ground. as Owen helped me up, I ran to the ball and made 5 goals!! WE HAD WON!!!!!! The end.
